Mission Statement
The Arts Council's mission is to inspire and enliven the community through the arts, and enhance the cultural and economic health of the region. We accomplish our vision through a range of activities and initiatives, large and small, local, outside the Basin and online.
We offer artists the tools to get the job done from start to finish! It is important that artists have the tools and resources they need to do what they do. Whatever the artist wants to create or accomplish the Arts Council offers many solutions to help. A recent survey by the United States Artists (USA) shows that while 96% of Americans value art in their communities, strangely, only 27% value artists. Please help the Arts Council ensure that artists, musicians and performers in our communities are as treasured as the art they create.
Stay informed of all the current and upcoming gallery & theatre shows, art events, music festivals, seminars, workshops, member and Arts Council announcements. HWY 62 Weekly is sent to artists, patrons of the arts and visitors to the Basin, on Fridays or you can view the current issue anytime online by clicking above.
Recycle, Reuse, Create Art! Artists can shop Donation=Creation to find new to much loved art supplies, tools, books, canvas, crafts, paints, original art, musical items, instruments, items to inspire art projects and more. All items in D=C are donated by the public to help support the arts and artists. 100% volunteer staff running the store means more proceeds that go to help artists and kids to create and participate in events, exhibitions, concerts and help with marketing and scholarships. It's eco-friendly too! A great thing to do is recycle what we already have. If you no longer need it donate it to Donation=Creation and we will find artists who do.
Donation=Creation is located at 61325 Hwy 62 Suite F, Joshua Tree, California. 10a-4p Mon-Sat. 760-366-2226
When artists have work to show or talent to show off the Arts Council offers opportunities in art galleries & venues, group shows, special exhibitions and events throughout the Basin and represents the artists for shows outside the Basin and online. We work with the community to create a network of events with local chambers and other nonprofit organizations too.
