Building Community through the Arts
The Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council's mission is to inspire and enliven the community through the arts, and enhance the cultural and economic health of the region. Building community through the arts, the Arts Council continues to be a leading source of information, inspiration and energy for artists and patrons throughout the Morongo Basin and beyond.
You may have noticed an increase in Arts Council programming this year. We've been working with a variety of organizations, schools and after-school art programs, and have produced new events and introduced new membership benefits for our artists and patrons. The Arts Council contribute to our communities by using "the three R's:" Relationships (building partnerships), Relevance (to audiences and community), and Return on Investment (promoting our public value and economic impact).
In difficult times, art programs are amoung the first to be cut, add to that reduced community and government support for nonprofits even over other humanity organizations. Still, our ambitious aim to include both visual and performing arts in this large service area of the basin keeps our hands full. We are the umbrella to all other art organizations, galleries, theatres and artists of the basin.
Local art programs make a vital contribution to the basin's economy and youth. Did you know? Providing art programs makes a tremendous impact on child developmental and has proved to help level the "learning field" across socio-economic boundaries. Locally, creative marketing of art events invites tourism, a benefit across all sectors of our economy.
